Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

Cosmetic ear surgery can reshape deformed or protruding ears. Plastic surgery of the ears can be performed from young schoolage. Under local anaesthesia the incision will be made in the back of the ear to obtain a hardly-visible linear scar. The surgeon can remove the excess skin or a larger piece of cartilage, if needed, or sculpt the cartilage to create new curvature. To secure position of newly shaped ear a headband is put on after the operation. The bandage and stiches will be removed in about 6-8 days. To secure ears it is recommended to wear a rubber headband, especially at night, for about 2 more weeks after the operation.
